Winter Storm Warning for A lot of Central Indiana – WISH-TV | Indianapolis Information | Indiana climate
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Cloudy conditions On Sunday, two snow waves make way for us in the 24-36 hours.
Much of the day is cloudy and cold, with turning on and off throughout the day. The maximum values are in the upper and lower 20s.
The winter storm warning will go into effect overnight for much of central and southern Indiana. There is a winter weather recommendation for the northern counties of central Indiana.
The winter storm in central Indiana closes, bringing the first of two snow waves to the area just before midnight. Expect steady snow showers for much of the night. The accumulations should be 1 to 2 inches, with some areas as high as 3 inches in time for the morning commute.
Night lows fall on the middle teens.
The first round of snow will taper from early to late morning. We’ll likely have a couple of hours of rest before our second wave, which should have more impact, arrives in the early afternoon. Expect steady and sometimes heavy snow during the afternoon and early evening hours before the snow gradually subsides late into the night.
Another 3-5 ″ + can be expected with the second wave in central and southern Indiana. That takes our total for the event to be around 4 to 7 inches in most of central Indiana and up to 6 to 9 inches in the southeastern parts of our state.
The highs on Monday are in mid-teens.
With the exception of a few light snow showers on Tuesday morning, we have a few days of calm weather for Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday. Another strong system is moving to the Midwest on Thursday, offering another chance for snow accumulation and possible mixed rainfall. We will stay cold until the end of the week and have the opportunity to freeze for the first time in over a week by the end of next weekend.
