Cumin, fennel, and cinnamon water are some proven home remedies that help with weight loss and have many other health benefits. Although all drinks are super healthy, with Dr. Mansi Chatrath, chief dietitian and director of the Natural Health Care Clinic, spoke to find out which of the three drinks is best when it comes to weight loss.

Cumin water


Cumin seeds are naturally cold and help balance the pH of the stomach. Cumin water is great for people suffering from burning sensation, gas, acidity, and even indigestion. As we all know, good digestion is the most important step in losing weight.

Additionally, cumin helps eliminate water retention in the body (helps with weight loss), improves your insulin sensitivity, is anti-inflammatory, helps correct metabolic disorders, and reduces overall body weight.

How to make cumin water


The best time to drink cumin water is right after you get up in the morning. To make this healthy drink, soak a teaspoon of cumin overnight and cook it in the morning until the amount is reduced in half for maximum benefit.

Fennel seeds


First things first, thick fennel seeds are intended to be used for weight loss purposes. These are super high in fiber, which will keep you full longer and keep you from binge eating. Another important way that fennel seeds help you lose weight is to curb your sugar cravings. A glass of fennel seed water during the day can keep you from reaching for sugary items.

It is rich in vitamins and minerals and has a blood purifying effect. It’s ideal for heart patients as it lowers cholesterol and regulates blood pressure. Fennel seeds are very good for eyesight. It also works wonders for gas, digestion, and constipation.

Fennel seed water is most effective when consumed on an empty stomach. Soak overnight, bring to the boil and consume lukewarm.

Cinnamon water


Cinnamon is great for balancing hormones and is therefore a must have for people with PCOS, a condition that in many cases can lead to unwanted weight gain.

Cinnamon also helps fight the side of high fat foods that promotes weight loss. The only thing to keep in mind when consuming cinnamon is that it is naturally warm and should therefore be consumed cautiously during the summer season.

It has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help keep various infections at bay.

How to make cinnamon water


Take 2 pinches of cinnamon in a glass of water, boil, and drink twice a day to see results. The best time for cinnamon is lunch and sleep.

How long should you have been consuming any of these brews to see visible results?


“Home remedies take time to take effect. Take any of these concoctions for at least 3 months to see visible results,” says Dr. Mansi.

She also adds, “Make sure you only have one thing at a time and don’t mix them up.”

Dr. Mansi says: “All three preparations are super healthy, although diabetics should be careful when consuming sauna water.”
