Two inmates who escaped from a Virginia jail were arrested after authorities found them hiding in a barn in Tennessee, officials said.
Officers arrested Johnny Shane Brown and Albert Lee Ricketson Friday in Rogersville, Tennessee, after the two escaped the Southwest Virginia Regional Department of Corrections in Abingdon a day earlier, the Washington County Virginia Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said the fugitives were believed to be traveling in a stolen gold-colored Cadillac SUV with Virginia plates that had “visible damage” to the rear.
On Friday, the duo were then arrested without incident about four miles from where the stolen vehicle was located, police said.
Brown, a 51-year-old federal prisoner, is being held without bail in the Washington County Jail in Tennessee, while Ricketson, a 31-year-old convicted of double murder, is being held in the sheriff’s jail in Hawkins County, Tennessee office said.
