When it comes to losing weight, exercise and diet play an important role. But not everyone is able to understand and follow a diet because of which people also make mistakes. So if you’re worried about shedding those extra pounds, you need to eliminate rice from your diet and add quinoa for weight loss.
Recently, quinoa, a grain that can be opted in place of rice, has become very popular. Many experts also recommend quinoa for weight loss.
Is Quinoa Healthy?
Quinoa, a western grain, has become very popular due to its high protein content and exceptional balance of essential amino acids. It mainly comes in two varieties, red and white, and is high in protein, zinc, vitamins, healthy fats, phosphorus, magnesium, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients. Quinoa is also gluten-free. Since quinoa has a low glycemic index and is recommended for diabetic patients, it also helps with blood sugar levels.

To help you understand how quinoa helps you lose weight, Health Shots reached out to nutritionist Vidhi Chawla of Fisco Diet Clinic.
How does quinoa help you lose weight?
Chawla says, “You should replace white rice with quinoa in your diet. This small change can be beneficial to your long-term goals!” Here are reasons why quinoa is a healthy weight-loss choice:
1. Keeps you full longer
Quinoa contains insoluble fiber. Therefore, including it in your diet will make you feel heavy or full for a long time and avoid overeating.
2. Rich in protein and fiber
“It’s also high in protein and fiber, which helps you maintain a very good metabolism and thereby makes your cravings go away, which helps you maintain calorie intake,” says Chawla.
3. Good for the gut
Dietary fiber, an essential ingredient for health, is abundant in quinoa. Your diet can benefit from higher-fiber foods if you want to maintain your weight and promote gut health.
Quinoa is also high in manganese, which helps maintain bone health, reduces inflammation, and helps with thyroid and hormonal imbalances. It’s quick and easy to cook and you can spice it up with herbs at any time. Make this small change in your diet for yourself today.
