For some, losing weight can be more than just a New Year’s resolution; it can be a matter of life and death.
Brother and sister Liz and Patrick McCarthy said WW, formerly Weight Watchers, helped them revitalize their lives with combined weight loss of more than 250 pounds.
Liz said she made the switch to WW after trying several other weight loss programs. She said she saw herself on a dangerous road and decided to make a change. But most of the programs she tried did not help, and even those that did did not keep the weight off for long.
She said WW made her keep habits like eating out and family dining, which has allowed her to lose about 100 pounds.
Patrick followed the suggestions of his sisters and doctor. He said that he was starting to have some medical problems and that his doctor said that if he was unable to lose more weight he would have to take medication.
He discussed how the WW workshops helped him lose 160 pounds.
“I’ve been on the road for five years now and there’s something new to learn every week,” he said.
