If you’re not sure what the most common symptoms are related to your eyes and seasonal allergies, these include severe itching, redness, tearing and swelling – especially during spring.
Luckily, there are some home remedies you can use to relieve these frustrating symptoms. In fact, it’s so important to be proactive and have a regimen ready to help ease your allergy issues.
dr Ogden advises: “Wear wrap-around sunglasses, flush your eyes with a gentle saline solution every night, wipe your lids and lashes at the end of the day, and make sure you use eye drops for allergies like LASTACAFT® once a day .” LASTACAFT® prescription strength is an antihistamine eye drop available over the counter. It provides your itchy eyes with fast-acting relief from classic indoor and outdoor allergens, including ragweed, pollen, pet dander, grass and animal dander.

Some helpful habits that can help avoid the chaos of seasonal allergies include visiting a board-certified allergist. He or she can help you identify your allergy triggers so you can avoid them.
In addition, Dr. Ogden suggest using a pollen app to track pollen count during peak season – and you should definitely do the same when you travel! If you know it’s going to be a very pollen-rich day, don’t spend too much time outdoors. Even at home, take off your shoes and shower after going outside.
dr Ogden has some additional tips, stating, “The key to allergy season is preparation and avoidance.” During allergy season, eye allergies can be quite severe. Keep a few drops like LASTACAFT® in your medicine cabinet before the season starts because it’s important to be prepared.
dr Ogden adds, “Also prepare your home with a HEPA-certified air purifier, especially in the bedroom, keep your home and car windows closed, and change your HVAC filters every year before the season starts.”
You can easily search and shop online for an air purifier – like the Clorox desktop air purifier, complete with true HEPA filtration – at a reasonable price to ensure you are taking the necessary steps to prepare for allergy season.
