A Connecticut child weight loss camp has been closed because of “health, safety and wellbeing concerns” among campers, the Office of Early Childhood and the Department of Children and Families said.

Camp Shane in South Kent has been closed while the two state agencies are conducting a joint investigation.

In a statement, the OEC and DCF said, “We are conducting a joint investigation with Camp Shane CT over concerns about the health, safety and wellbeing of the children enrolled in the summer youth camp.”

Officials say the director of Camp Shane indicated that operations would cease on July 13.

OEC and DCF officials say no further details will be released as the investigation is a pending matter with minors.
