The Coast Guard rescued 10 folks trapped on ice floes close to Edgewater Park

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched a rescue team to the Edgewater Park area on Sunday afternoon after 10 people were reportedly stranded on ice floes on Lake Erie near the park.

Other agencies were also involved in the rescue, including a helicopter from Detroit Air Station.

A Coast Guard spokesman confirmed to FOX 8 that 10 people, three children and seven adults, were rescued and the case is now closed.

Cleveland EMS informed FOX 8 that two people were hospitalized following the rescue operations, including a 35-year-old man in critical condition and a 7-year-old boy in stable condition. They were both taken to the MetroHealth Medical Center.
