If you’re interested in immersive entertainment, education, or home fitness, the Meta Quest 2 is a phenomenal device. However, you may have a few instances where you want to show the live video feed from your VR experience, which is difficult considering the Quest 2 doesn’t have HDMI ports. If you’re hosting friends and playing a particularly cool game, you might want to show them what you’re doing in VR so they can experience you vicariously.

Luckily, Meta has provided three ways you can cast your Quest 2 to another screen, but there’s no way to bypass streaming over the network, so make sure you have a beefed-up Wi-Fi connection before trying this. If you want to show your Supernatural workout routine or roleplay live as Leon in Resident Evil 4 VR, you’ll need to route your Quest 2 video output to an external device. There are several ways to cast your Quest 2 feed to another device, and either way you can view your output on a TV.

If you are using a PC or laptop connected to a TV via an HDMI cable, you can quickly and easily set up your stream from your Meta Quest 2 by following these simple instructions:

  1. Navigate to the URL “www.oculus.com/casting” from either Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
  2. Sign in to your meta account if you haven’t already.
  3. Open your universal menu from your Quest 2. This is the oval menu button on your right controller.
  4. Navigate to the Share menu and then to Cast.
  5. Make sure you’re streaming to a computer that’s on the same Wi-Fi network as your Quest 2.

Voila! You should see an image of your Quest 2 on your screen. It might be displayed in a 4:3 aspect ratio, but there’s an option to enlarge your screen a bit to create a wider picture.

Assuming you’ve successfully paired your Quest 2 with your phone, then transferring your Quest 2 output to your phone is a much easier task than you might expect. It’s even easier than streaming to your computer, and it only requires you to have the Oculus app installed on your phone. It is recommended that you update your phone to the latest firmware before running the Oculus app. That would be iOS 15.5 and Android 13. Here are the instructions you need to follow:

  1. Navigate to the Oculus app.
  2. Look for the icon in the top-right corner of the app that looks like a VR headset that’s broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.
  3. Select your Oculus Quest 2 from the dropdown menu, then connect to that phone.
  4. Select Start from the menu and your phone will start showing the cast.
  5. If you optionally want to display the output on your TV, this would be a good moment to enable AirPlay or LocalCast.
  6. Now you need to send the actual signal to your phone. From the Quest 2 headset, follow the on-screen instructions until the broadcast begins.

Sending the Meta Quest 2 signal to a Chromecast is also very similar to sending it to your phone. The only difference is that you use Chromecast as the casting target and not the phone itself, although you still have to set up the cast using the app on your phone. Just follow these simple instructions to get the Quest 2 output on your Chromecast connected to your TV:

  1. Navigate to the Oculus app.
  2. Look for the icon in the top-right corner of the app that looks like a VR headset that’s broadcasting a Wi-Fi signal.
  3. Select your Oculus Quest 2 from the drop-down menu, then connect to Chromecast.
  4. Select Start from the menu and your Chromecast will begin showing the cast.
  5. Now you need to send the actual signal to your phone. From the Meta Quest 2 headset, follow the on-screen instructions until the broadcast begins.
