After a 30-day free trial, a Peloton Digital membership costs $ 12.99 per month. This subscription enables a user to access the platform. Multiple profiles are not permitted.
Fitness with or without a bike
One of the nicest things about the Peloton platform is how easy it is to get started. In just a few steps, you can register and jump straight into the training that you like. Hundreds of hours of content is available that doesn’t require any equipment at all, including yoga and bodyweight training. While a profile is recommended to take full advantage of the platform (more on that later), it is not required.
Class types available on Peloton
There are 11 different class types with training for every interest and almost every ability. In addition to intermediate fitness fanatics, Peloton has done an excellent job curating programs for beginners. The lessons take place in sessions of 5 to 90 minutes, with the majority of the courses being in the range of 20 to 45 minutes. Peloton makes it extremely easy to do any type of exercise in any time you have.

This is where the reputation of the “peloton cult” comes in: some users are obscenely loyal to certain teachers (as evidenced by some of their massive social media followers) while others like to jump to different teachers. Regardless of where you fall on that spectrum, following a favorite teacher with any kind of chronological regularity makes the entire experience much more exciting.

Continuous innovation at a breathless pace
Lately, Peloton has apparently been aiming to release new “Artist Series” classes (with soundtracks from an artist) and other themes almost weekly. (For example, at the time of this writing, Peloton was launching a class series with The Beatles on Christmas Day, followed by an announcement of the Calvin Harris Artist Series.) This is in addition to bespoke training programs like “Crush Your Core” and regular daily live and on-demand -Courses. Sometimes the choices can be overwhelming, but if you’re someone who needs fresh content to stay motivated, there is no shortage of it here.
Speaking of music …
Can you find a song you like in a workout? Peloton’s one-touch integration with Spotify is awesome. Just touch the heart icon next to the song and it will automatically be added to a playlist that you can access in Spotify. The songs are filled at will and your personal workout playlist will be created in no time. (Other apps have this or are trying to recreate this, but none made it as seamless as Peloton.)
Use the class library
One of Peloton’s greatest strengths is the amount of content available. The monthly membership unlocks everything and no formal profile is required to use it. The big limitation is that without a profile, you won’t be able to spot current trends in your performance and earn badges (which have their own cult following). While this is more important for those with a bike or profile, instructors in the other disciplines occasionally greet a user who has reached a milestone during a live class (100, 200, 500+ classes). It’s a cool moment that many dedicated users are aiming for.
Seamless live quotes on the platform you choose
Whether streaming on the bike / Tread, computer, tablet, television or smartphone – the live platform is essentially seamless. Users will find a layout similar to a class regardless of the screen, and it makes it easy to keep track of workouts no matter where you are. We found that this makes a huge difference when we jump from the bike to the TV or from the bike to the phone screen. (If your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone, the Peloton app will automatically display heart rate and other metrics when you exercise from your iPhone.)
The community is a big thing
Whatever you choose to do, Peloton’s dedicated and rapidly growing user base is a huge asset. The peloton passion carries over to engaging Instagram followers for favorite teachers and massive Facebook groups where users are obsessed with anything and every peloton. This constant support really creates a sense of community, especially at a time when so many are isolated or alone. Activity sharing is easy across networks and is designed to show how much work you’ve done.
Weakness of the Peloton app
Overall, the Peloton app is a really strong offering with few flaws. There are few downsides, but the only thing seasoned fitness enthusiasts may be lacking is the lack of real recovery programming. Yes, there is a full stretching portfolio along with some foam roller options, but if Peloton offered longer flexibility and mobility programming (as in Variis’ TB12) that would possibly round off the only thing missing for advanced exercisers in need of this dynamic recovery. Again, this is really a specific problem and the majority of users will be fine with what is currently available.

At $ 12.99 per month, the Peloton app is a great value. No matter what type of workout you get into, you need to find something and find a way to stick with it. The platform is easy to use and it lacks the intimidation factor that comes with other fitness apps. For a quick start to fitness at home, there is no better option on the market right now.
