Obituary for Wendell Leon Value – The Gadsden Occasions

Wendell Leon Price, 85 of Southside, died on June 26, 2022. The funeral service with military honors will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday 29 June 2022 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. The viewing takes place before the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Chapel.

Mr. Price was born on October 13, 1936 in Johnson County, GA. He served 2 years in the United States Army in Germany. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church for 49 years. He retired from Foothills Timber Co. where he was a lumber buyer for many years. In his free time, he loved reading his Bible, gardening, spending time with his family, and tending to the rose garden at Southside Baptist Church.

His parents, Elzie Leaston and Essie Lee Ivey Price, precede him in death; Brothers, Wenfred Price (twin), Jerrell Price, EL Price Jr., Ralston Price, Billy Price; and sister, Dixie Price Hawkins.

Mr Price is survived by his wife Nadine Price of almost 63 years; Brothers, Trueitt (Dorothy) Price, Robert (Edna) Price; sister, Jimmie (Lamar) Price; Daughters, Nancy (Todd) Howle, Debra (Tim) Graul; Grandsons Meaghan Routon (David Wesson), Kelsey (John) Hill, Brooke (Blain) Kellett, Kaleigh (Ricky Ray) Clayton, Jaycie Routon, Clay Routon, Hayden Howle, Jacob (Stephanie) Graul, Justen (Laci) Graul, Hudson Howl ; great-grandchildren, Kyler and Baker Hill, Lucas and Sarah Beth Wesson, Banks Clayton, Tripp and Tucker Kellett, Bennett Graul; and a lot of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be placed at Southside Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Pallbearers will be Clay Routon, John Hill, Blain Kellett, David Wesson, Ricky Ray Clayton, Coleman Scales.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Thornton and his Sunday School class for men 70+, John Hatley, Albert Davis, Gary Rich and Jerry Tolbert.

Special thanks to the doctors and nurses in Gadsden Regional’s Intensive Care Unit and Gadsden Regional’s home care nurse, Dr. Eta, Dr. Kalem, Dr. Head and Dr. Sledge.
