James “Buster” Edward Morton
James “Buster” Edward Morton was born on May 3rd, 1926 and died on Thursday, February 18th, 2020.
He was born to Saunders G. and Emma B. Morton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Wall Morton; three sons, James W. Morton, Freddie G. Morton, and Glenn E. Morton; one grandson, Scottie Edward Morton; and two granddaughters, Hannah Hopkins and Courtney Paige Faircloth. Six brothers and four sisters died before him.
He is survived by three daughters, Yvonne Hopkins (Gerald), Carolyn Eggleston (Jud-deceased), Betty Jo Barbour (Gary); and four sons, Roger Morton, Jackie Morton (Veronica), Gary Dean Morton and Randy Morton (Terry). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
He retired from Old Dominion, where he worked for 28 years.
Everyone who knew him knew his love for his family, music, hunting, and gardening. He was also known for his ancient times and home remedies. In recent years he and his family have enjoyed playing music and singing at church events. He really enjoyed singing and playing with the boys and always knew the words to the songs. He even had the talent to write his own songs. He also had a knack for sayings and stories and was proud of his family.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a rolling tour of the Collins Funeral Home, 30 Riverside Drive, Bassett, Virginia will take place on Sunday, February 21, 2021 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Immediately thereafter, a grave service will be held at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia
