The latest: The United Nations has expressed hope that the first shipments of grain from blocked Ukrainian ports could begin on Friday. However, the exact coordinates needed for safe ship passage would still be negotiated on Thursday, said UN aid chief Martin Griffiths.
The fight: Russia’s recent operational pause, which analysts identified in recent weeks as an attempt to regroup troops before doubling down on southern and eastern Ukraine, appears to be ending. Russia appears poised to resume ground offensives, with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday telling troops to step up attacks “in all operational sectors” of Ukraine.
