The Houston Food Bank recognizes the life and work of Martin Luther King with activities that highlight the importance of volunteering and donating to others on MLK Day.
Due to COVID restrictions, the Houston Food Bank will be hosting a Shell Backpack Buddy Food Drive. People can pull up and donate non-perishable items to be used in backpack buddy sacks to aid school children with unsafe diets.
Social distancing & COVID-19
Houston companies and organizations have opened under amended protocols in accordance with guidelines from local health authorities, the state of Texas, and the CDC. At this point, expert guidance encourages people to continue wearing face masks in public spaces, practicing a social distance of at least two meters, limiting touching of surfaces, and using hand sanitizer or soap and water frequently to keep their hands clean to keep.
Although vaccines have been approved and sales have started, supply is still limited. Health officials have seriously warned that it will be until late spring 2021 before the US can expect some herd immunity. In the meantime, it is highly recommended that you use masks to help curb the increasing spread of COVID-19 this winter.
Before you depart, take the time to familiarize yourself with the requirements or limitations of your destination and contact them well in advance if you have any questions or concerns.
