Meta’s Nick Clegg warns of ‘industrial scale’ censorship

Nick Clegg, president of global affairs for Meta Platforms Inc., said Thursday that Facebook’s parent company would become “the greatest industrial censorship ever in human history” if it removed too much content from its platforms.

Clegg said at an event hosted by the Semafor news agency in Washington that the company focuses the majority of its content moderation efforts on posts that can cause harm in the real world. His comments came in response to a question about when the company will remove abusive content targeted at women and the LGBTQ community.
