Intermittent fasting promotes weight reduction

Actor Chris Hemsworth is best known for having a god-like body as Thor, and building and maintaining Marvel muscles takes a lot of hard work and strategy.

But his coach’s proudest moment was getting Hemsworth to lose a lot of weight to play a shipwrecked sailor for “Heart of the Sea” 2015.

“Everyone thinks of him in Thor because he’s big and muscular, but that was the big accomplishment for me. It was a huge challenge for us,” said Luke Zocchi, Hemsworth’s longtime personal trainer and friend, insider at one of Centr’s coordinators Interview. Hemsworth Wellness App.

He said a key component of body transformation is intermittent fasting, a popular diet method that only eats during a specific time window during the day.

For the role, Hemsworth had to lose as much weight as possible and get thinner and thinner as the film progressed. Zocchi said it was especially difficult because after losing weight for a previous role, the actor was already slim and used to exercising intensely.

Hemsworth stuck to a rigorous exercise regimen to burn calories while filming, but exercise alone wasn’t enough to keep shedding pounds, Zocchi said.

“He was so tired from all training that we couldn’t add any more workouts, so diet was a big deal,” said Zocchi.

To change things, Hemsworth began eating all of his meals within an eight-hour window each day and fasting for the other 16 hours of the day.

“We introduced intermittent fasting with fewer calories and it was crazy how much that worked,” said Zocchi.

Intermittent fasting is not for everyone, and research into its effectiveness has been mixed.

But Zocchi said it gave Hemsworth an edge in achieving his goals when they’d tried everything else, including severely cutting calories (at one point, Hemsworth and his co-stars were sticking to a diet of just 500 calories a day).

Actors need to lose weight quickly, but that can be risky

Rapid, extreme weight loss can be incredibly risky, even for resource and support actors like Hemsworth, George Clooney, and Joaquin Phoenix.

You shouldn’t attempt severe calorie restriction at home, and in no case without professional supervision. Severe weight loss can also lead to side effects such as muscle breakdown, which affects strength and slows metabolism.

However, actors often need to put on and lose weight for their roles, sometimes drastically, so coaches rely on all the techniques they know for the best results.

Intermittent fasting is the right thing for Zocchi. “It’s a really good system to help you lose weight. I always go back to it,” he said.
