Garth Brooks is happy there’s a lot less of him to love after losing 50 pounds

Speaking to Irish journalists ahead of his five-day stay at Dublin’s Croke Park, Brooks proudly revealed he is now the same weight as he was when he last played there in 1997, when he was 35.

“What happened, oddly enough, was the 25th anniversary of Croke Park and Central Park, and I sat there and looked at it and thought everyone looks the same… what’s up with your fat ass, here you go,” joked he. as reported by the Irish Mirror.

“But try to remind yourself that this is one of the things I will give myself credit for. I was a soccer dad for 16 years. Last on the list,” he explained.

“And it takes a while to get back to being an artist again. It took me eight years to get back to that,” Brooks continued.

“And I’m the same weight as when we played here in 1997, that’s what I want,” he said.

The historic concert series at Croke Park, celebrating the 25th anniversary since its last concert, is being filmed for an upcoming concert film.

“This movie is coming,” Brooks said, jokingly adding, “I’ve lost 50 pounds and the movie is about to add that back.”

However, returning to his old weight is just part of the 60-year-old country star’s plans for these special shows.

“What you want to do is set yourself up for the best chance of success,” he explained. “So how do you get ahead of these people? Hopefully they spend the first 30 seconds saying ‘wow dude’ and now I’m ahead of them. But we just want to feel good.”
