ETFGI stories that world crypto ETFs and ETPs suffered web outflows of $556 million in April 2022

LONDONMay 30, 2022 — ETFGI, a leading independent research and advisory firm covering trends in the global ETFs/ETPs ecosystem, reported today that globally listed crypto ETFs and ETPs saw net outflows of $556 million in April, driving the Year-to-date net inflows are $303 million. That’s a lot less than the $2.69 billion raised at this point last year. Total assets invested in crypto ETFs and ETPs fell 18.8% to $13.21 billion from $16.28 billion at the end of March 2022, according to the April 2022 ETFGI Report on ETFs and ETPs -Crypto Industry, the monthly report that is part of an annual paid research subscription service. “The S&P 500 is down 8.72% in April and is down 12.92% in the first 4 months of 2022. Ex-US developed markets are down 6.71% in April. Emerging markets fell 5.40% in April and were down 11.56% in the first 4 months of 2022. Among emerging markets, the weakest markets were Poland (down 17.01%) and Peru (down 15.32%), while Turkey (up 7.44%) and Saudi Arabia (up 4.99%) were the top performers according to Deborah Fuhr, Managing Partner, Founder and Owner of ETFGI.

Since the launch of the first crypto ETP in 2015, the Bitcoin Tracker One-SEK, the number and variety of products has steadily increased. Globally, as of the end of April, there were 140 crypto ETFs/ETPs with 441 listings and $13.21 billion in assets from 27 providers listed on 17 exchanges in 13 countries. In April, 17 new digital asset ETFs/ETPs were launched.

Following net outflows of $556 million and market movements during the month, assets invested in globally listed crypto ETFs/ETPs fell 18.8% from $16.28 billion at the end of March 2022 to $13.21 billion at the end of April 2022 .

Significant inflows can be attributed to the top 20 ETFs/ETPs by net new money, which raised a total of $149 million in April. CoinShares FTX Physical FTX Token (CFTT GY) generated the largest single net inflow at $37.93 million.
