UVALDE, Tex. – The gunman who opened fire at an elementary school here shared his intention to carry out an attack on private social media messages just before slaughtering at least 19 children and two adults, officials said on Wednesday.
A day after the gunman attacked Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, authorities came out with a grim account of the carnage that had devastated that community. They said the gunman, using guns he had bought just days earlier, shot his grandmother in the face before storming the school, where he massacred young children – all, officials said, in a single classroom.
“Evil swept over Uvalde yesterday,” Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said at a news conference Wednesday.
