Colson spoke openly about his changing appearance while appearing on the talk show with Corrie co-stars Ben Price and Jack P. Shepherd.

The actor, who previously said he was “too fat” to fit clothes, said: “I got lucky with the timing.

“Lockdown was the first time I didn’t have a job and thought, ‘What do I care about?’

“I realized that Colson is important to me.

“Running was one of the things I found and I literally ran with it.

“I love it. It’s all I want to do.”

His co-star Ben Price, who plays Nick Tilsley, lives with Colson and shared how smitten he was with his pal.

He told the ITV show: “He did incredibly well.

“When I first lived with him, we would go out in the evenings and go for walks or runs.”

He added: “It was a privilege to be there and watch him grow into the man he is now.

“I started running with him, but now I can’t keep up with him.”

Colson previously admitted he self-harmed eating after being abused by viewers because of his weight when he was just 11 years old.

Recalling happier days of his childhood, Colson said on the Sofa Cinema Club podcast, “Henry VIII was the first role I played in third year and I smashed it at the age of eight.

“Every school class took over the assembly, my class took its turn leading the assembly and we did a show about Henry VIII and I was Henry VIII and I was damn good.

“It was so good that we had to host the parent gathering. At that moment I wanted to be an actor and I got interested in it.”

He then revealed the difficulties of buying clothes – “nothing” would fit and he was often more adventurous with his shoes.

“Then by the time I was probably 18/19 I started really enjoying a pair of shoes, it was mostly shoes because I was too fat to wear clothes, nothing fitted… whatever ASOS did in 20 XL, and then shoes… anyone can fit in shoes,” he added.

Colson told The Sun how he was abused by soap fans because of his weight when he was just 11 years old.

He said: “I had a Twitter account when I was 11.

“You log in, you search for your name, you search for ‘Craig Corrie’ and you look at what people are saying about your character or your acting and all they are saying is about your weight and your looks .

“I was just branded as the fat kid from day one. Even at school I was always the fat one, I was always the outsider.”
