Assault on Paul Pelosi: The suspect within the assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband had an inventory of targets, legislation enforcement sources say

The suspect in Attack on Husband of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Paul Pelosi had a list of people he intended to target, and law enforcement sources who were briefed on the investigation confirmed CBS News.

David Wayne DePape, who is accused of hitting Paul Pelosi with a hammer overnight at his San Francisco home, may have planned to attack more people, the sources said.

They haven’t gone so far as to call the list a “hit list,” but authorities believe the suspect may have planned to target others, the sources said.

DePape is expected to be charged Tuesday. Sources told CBS News that prosecutors are taking time to pursue federal charges because DePape is in custody and is no longer a threat.

Supposedly the suspect broke into the couple’s home around 2 a.m. on Friday “Where’s Nancy?”

The suspect planned to keep Paul Pelosi tied up until the spokesman got home, law enforcement officials told CBS News.

Police have not given a motive but said it was “not an accidental act”.

Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, DC at the time of the attack, according to Capitol Police.

While the alleged attacker was at the home, police said, Paul Pelosi was able to dial 911 and police were dispatched to the apartment.

San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said Friday that officers observed both Pelosi and the suspect with a hammer, and then “the suspect pulled the hammer away from Mr. Pelosi and violently assaulted him with it.”

The suspect was immediately arrested by police and is charged with attempted manslaughter, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary and several other crimes, according to authorities.

A CBS News review of alleged DePape social media posts surfaced conspiracy theories about Holocaust denial, government pedophiles and claims that Democratic officials run child sex rings.

in one Letter to fellow members of Congress On Saturday evening, the Speaker of the House of Representatives wrote that her husband’s “condition continues to improve”.
