7 lifeless, 1 injured – NBC Bay Space

Seven people were shot dead at two different locations in Half Moon Bay Monday afternoon, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Four victims were found dead around 2:22 p.m. along the 12700 block of Cabrillo Highway, the sheriff’s office said. Another victim was transported to Stanford Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after this discovery, three other victims were found dead at another crime scene in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.

The suspect, 67-year-old Zhao Chunli of Half Moon Bay, was taken into custody around 4:40 p.m. after he was found in his vehicle in the Half Moon Bay substation parking lot, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested without incident and a gun was found in his car.

The victims were Chinese farm workers, said Half Moon Bay councilor Debbie Ruddock.

A motive for the shooting is being investigated.

A family reunion center has been established at IDES Hall, located at 735 Main St. in Half Moon Bay.
