5 methods to attenuate them naturally

No More Dark Circles: 5 Ways to Minimize Them Naturally

New Delhi: Dark circles are not dangerous for health, but they make people hide for fear of not looking good. They also give a tired and older impression.

There are many reasons why you can get dark circles:

  1. genetic factors
  2. hyperpigmentation
  3. Eczema or other skin allergies
  4. lack of sleep or insomnia
  5. lifestyle habits

Another common cause of dark spots is aging. As you age, fat and collagen cells die off and new ones are not produced, causing the skin to lose its elasticity and firmness. This can make the blood vessels under your eyes bulge.

While you may not be able to completely get rid of dark circles, there are many simple home remedies you can try to minimize them.

  1. Getting enough sleep: When doctors recommend 7-8 hours of sleep a day for adults, they’re not kidding. A lack of sound sleep can lead to fatigue, which causes the skin to turn pale and dark circles to appear under the eyes.
  2. Apply a cold compress: Cold compresses are very beneficial for eye health and minimize dark spots. Cold compresses, like an ice pack, can shrink the blood vessels around the eyes and reduce the dark color. It also helps reduce puffiness and redness in the eyes.
  3. Teabag: Cold tea bags should be applied to closed eyes for 10-15 minutes daily to get rid of dark circles. Tea contains caffeine and antioxidants that regulate and stimulate blood circulation and reduce any type of buildup in the blood vessels.
  4. Vitamin E Oil: Just before bedtime, gently massage the eye area with Vitamin E oil or capsule. Then wash with cold water and repeat this every day.
  5. Make-up and concealer: Applying foundation and concealer is the quickest way to conceal dark circles when you go out. Makeup easily blends into the skin and helps temporarily get rid of the black spots.

Apart from that there are many medical options like laser resurfacing, steroid creams, chemical peels, blepharoplasty and fillers that you can do but these come with their own side effects.
